BACKGROUND
After studying Philosophy and French at the University of Cambridge, I completed a doctorate on gender and French literary theory at the University of York. I went on to pursue a successful career in British academia, and worked as a university lecturer in social sciences for almost 20 years. My academic activities drew me increasingly into editorial and translation work, until finally at the end of 2007 I gave in to my passion for the English language and began professional training in proofreading, copy-editing, translation and indexing. I have been providing freelance services to paying (and occasionally pro bono) clients since 2008.
